Danai studied archaeology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki where she completed her MA degree in 2018. Her thesis, supervised by Prof. Konstantinos Kotsakis, focused on the marine resources of the Neolithic settlements in Northern Greece. In this context, she has studied part of the archaeomalacological assemblage from the Neolithic settlement of Paliambela Kolindrou and has also conducted related ethnographical fieldwork.

Danai has participated in numerous excavations throughout Greece (Paliambela Kolindrou, Knossos-Gypsades, Toumba Thessalonikis, Ouriakos Lemnou, etc) and has worked alongside researchers in Greece (Mark and Ismene Fitch Laboratory, British School at Athens) and Belgium (Aegis Research Group at the Université Catholique de Louvain).

In this project she will investigate paleoenvironmental change through elemental and isotopic analyses of mollusc shells in order to reconstruct prehistoric practices related to the seasonal gathering and fishing activities and as well as create high-resolution climatic data.
